What is Noun in English?

Q.  Define noun with example?

Ans-Noun

‘A noun is the name of person, place, thing or group’.

'किसी व्यक्ति (person), स्थान(place), वस्तु (thing) अथवा  समूह (group) के नाम को संज्ञा (noun)  कहते है' | जैसे –

Abdul, Nitin,football, India

Abdul is reading a new book

Nitin went to out.

He is now in India.

 

Kinds of Noun

There are five types of Noun

संज्ञा के 5 प्रकार है

 

1-Proper Noun (व्यक्ति वाचक संज्ञा) Abdul, Sheema, Ganga, Delhi etc

2-Common Noun (जाति वाचक संज्ञा) Grass,  animal  Teacher, Student etc

3-Material Noun (पदार्थ वाचक संज्ञा) Milk, wood, Gold etc

4-Collective Noun (समूह वाचक संज्ञा) team, crowd, Army, Family etc

5-Abstract Noun (भाव वाचक संज्ञा) Wealth, childhood, hunger, Happiness etc

 

Grammatical rules of Noun

संज्ञा (Noun) को लिखने के लिए उसके grammatical rules निम्न लिखित है|

Rule1-

कुछ Noun हमेसा singular होते है-

Glass, information, Traffic, Food, Dust, Paper, Electricity, Poetry, paper, furniture, Scenery, wood, work, advice, iron etc

 

Rule2-

कुछ Noun हमेसा plural होते है-

Mathematics, Innings, Economics, Physics, News, Politics, Civics, Ethics, Genetics etc

 

Rule3-

कुछ noun के singular तथा plural  के रूपों में कोई परिवर्तन नहीं होता है इन noun का प्रयोग उनके भाव के अनुसार singular तथा plural के रूपों में किया जाता है जैसे –Hundred, Thousand, Dozen, sheep, Deeer, Fish, Data etc

 

Rule4-

कुछ noun देखने में तो singular प्रतीत होते है लेकिन इन  noun का प्रयोग हमेसा plural के रूप में होता है जैसे-People, cattle, police,poultry, gentry etc

Q1- Define Proper noun with example.

Ans-The noun represent the name of a specific person, plce, country is called proper noun.

Example-

Rohan is my friend.

He went to Delhi.

India is a big country.

 

Q2 -Define common noun with example.

Ans- The name which shared in common by every place, person, and thing of same class or group is clled common noun.

Example-

The book is in the Desk.

 Father reads a book

 

Q3- Define Material noun with example.

Ans- A word which denotes the matter or substance of which things are made is called Material noun.

Example-

Milk is white.

Gold is useful metal.

 

Q4- Define collective noun with example.

Ans-  The collective noun is the name given to a number of person or things as a group is called collective noun.

Example-

Indian Army is strong.

His team won the football.

 

Q5- Define the Abstract noun with example.

Ans- A word which is used for the quality, action or state is called abstract noun.

Exmple-

Health is wealth.

Honesty is the best policy.
